THE HISTORY OF SCIENTOLOGYS EXPANSION
In August, 10,000 Scientologists convened for a convention in Anaheim, California. And all the while, Scientology and Dianetics continued to repair lives around the world: in the Philippines where business leaders discovered L. Ron Hubbards technology, and in the slums of London where his study technology was put to good use helping impoverished children.
Approximately one hundred miles east of Los Angeles, at the desert community of La Quinta, Mr. Hubbard established a Scientology training film studio (Source Productions) in 1977. Under his personal direction, in an eight-month period, Source Productions produced a public Scientology information film and seven technical instruction films to preserve the standard training and application of Scientology long into the future.
The same year, to accommodate the flood of Scientologists arriving for services, the 520,000-square-foot Cedars of Lebanon complex in Hollywood was purchased soon to be the new home of the Church of Scientology Los Angeles, the American Saint Hill Organization, the Advanced Organization and various administrative offices. This was also a big year for the Flag Land Base with the release of two L. Ron Hubbard written and directed public information films, The Secret of Flag Results and The Case He Couldnt Crack. And to help keep all running smoothly, L. Ron Hubbards dictionary of Scientology management terms was released.
