L. RON HUBBARD: HOW HIS WORK HAS INFLUENCED THE WORLD
Letters from inmates in the United States, Great Britain, Mexico, Hungary and Poland all reported a return of self-respect. And with their self-respect came the knowledge that they could perhaps for the first time in their lives learn to function as honest citizens in society.
One index of just how far Mr. Hubbards methods have permeated the field of criminal reform came in mid-1997 at a New York State convention of judges, district attorneys and prison administrators. Many visited the Criminon display during that convention and remarked that they were not only aware of Mr. Hubbards programs, but believed that it was the only program which produced results.
Workable criminal rehabilitation has finally become reality. What that means for the rest of society was perhaps best summed up by a Los Angeles municipal court judge who began a pilot Criminon program in August 1996.
What we are looking at with The Way to Happiness and Criminon programs are technologies which are much more than just shunting someone into custody for a long period of time, he said. These programs present the only real hope for the future of this country in terms of a safe environment and neighborhood.
