SPEARHEADING SOCIAL REFORM
An award-winning publication, Freedom is a dependable source of information about a wide range of timely issues, from government corruption to workable solutions for the problems of drug abuse, illiteracy and violent crime, to protecting privacy, property rights and freedom of speech in the electronic age of the Internet.
In 1988, Freedoms Human Rights Leadership Awards were created so that the positive contributions of individuals in government, the news media and other areas of society who have supported human rights were appropriately recognized.
These awards are presented to those at the forefront of efforts to advance the causes of freedom of expression, freedom of information, government reform, mental health reform, childrens rights, religious freedom and social justice. Recipients have included Freedom of Information advocate US Senator Patrick Leahy, First Amendment expert Paul McMasters and former chairman of the US Commission on Civil Rights Arthur A. Fletcher.
Through awards to individuals who are improving conditions in society, positive contributions to our civilization and to the welfare of mankind are reinforced.
It is Freedoms intention and the evident trend that the voices speaking out on behalf of human rights and individual freedoms will continue to become more and more powerful in the years ahead.
