SCIENTOLOGY VOLUNTEER MINISTERS
First announced in a 1976 essay, Religious Influence in Society; Role of the Volunteer Minister, Mr. Hubbard defined the Volunteer Minister as a person who helps his fellow man on a volunteer basis by restoring purpose, truth and spiritual values to the lives of others. (See page 448 for the complete text of this essay.) Thus was born a broad-based movement of individuals from all walks of life dedicated to providing practical assistance to others in communities throughout the world.
By applying fundamental Scientology techniques which anyone can use, Volunteer Ministers embody the truth that when Scientology is used, conditions improve.
The technology used by Volunteer Ministers is contained in the 950-page Scientology Handbook, a detailed compilation of fundamental and practical Scientology principles. Illustrations and clear guidelines on how to minister these techniques make them easily learned by anyone with a desire to help others overcome difficulties and better the conditions of their own lives. (For more information on The Scientology Handbook, see page 444.)
One chapter of The Scientology Handbook is devoted entirely to assists and their utilization of spiritual means in the healing process.
